Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy consists of hypnosis and therapy and is an empowering process
that can facilitate change. It is a holistic therapy treating the whole individual.
The mind has two parts, the conscious and the subconscious. The conscious
mind is the part you are aware of most of the time - it is the part that
records all new experiences. These experiences are then passed to the
subconscious (your memory bank).where they are permanently stored. The
subconscious mind (your memory bank) also controls and regulates the involuntary
functions of your body, such as breathing, circulation, digestion, etc.
These functions occur naturally without you having to consciously think
about them.
Problems and difficulties can arise at various stages throughout our lifespan as a result of environmental or other influences. Talking confidentially and without being judged or criticized allows you explore various aspects of your life, your feelings, your thoughts and related behaviours. You can discuss your fears and anxieties and have an opportunity to explore and express any bottled up feelings. From a new understanding about yourself and your life situations you can begin to make decisions about achieving a more satifying life.
Hypnosis is a natural altered state of awareness that all of us have experienced
many times before, for example, when you have been driving and realise
you cannot remember parts of the journey. All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis.
It is the power of your own mind that enables you to relax, let go. It’s
a very natural process which you control.
Therapeutic hypnosis is simply a series of ever-deepening relaxations,
you neither go to sleep nor become unconscious - you can talk quite easily,
be aware of your surroundings and remember everything that has taken place.
It can be defined as a pleasant feeling of relaxation, calmness and comfort,
when it is possible for you to access the stored information in your subconscious
mind. I facilitate the process and guide you to the areas which we choose
to explore at a subconscious level (not unconscious level). If I give
you a suggestion that you don’t like, you either ignore the suggestion,
or bring yourself out of hypnosis.
Everything about you begins as a thought which affects your behaviour,
and thereby your actions. When you change the thought, you change the
action. Through you gaining access to your subconscious mind, you use
the power of your subconscious mind to concentrate and focus on new thoughts,
words and images to establish new habits, attitudes and behaviour that
are chosen by you as being acceptable. These new thoughts over-ride your
old thoughts enabling change to take place.
Hypnoanalysis/Regression Therapy
In Hypnoanalysis/Regression Therapywe look at your more deep seated personal issues and how your past experiences and current behaviour can be linked. It is used when symptoms arise from deep-seated
emotional or psychological origin that need to be resolved before the
changes you wish to achieve can happen. The cause usually stems from an
emotionally traumatic event in your life that happened when you were young,
immature or inexperienced. At that time the event was so painful or shocking
that it was buried or repressed from your conscious mind. However, by
being buried it has not gone away, but may fester inside you until it
manifests itself later in your life as an internal anxiety or symptom/problem.
Exploring your past can help to increase your awareness of patterns and negative habits and can lead to a more creative self understanding. Once you have discovered and understood the original root cause and the
same event has been reviewed by your more mature self, your reaction to
it is more rational and logical, thereby allowing the symptoms to be dealt
with and resolved.
Hypnoanalysis/Regression Therapy can help you to release old, debilitating
habits, beliefs and/or traumas, thus making way for new and more positive
ways to deal with the issues in your life.
