Reiki

Rei-ki combines two Japanese words. The first meaning free passage and the second meaning Universal Life Force (energy). Collectively Reiki means the free passage of Universal Energy.

Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which originated in ancient Tibet and was rediscovered in the 1870s by a Japanese Monk named Mikao Usui. Mr Usui developed this system of healing from ancient Tantric Buddhist teachings after many years of study and meditation. Reiki was later bought to the west by Hawayo Takata, a Japanese lady who lived in Hawaii and was trained by Mr Usui..

The knowledge that an unseen energy flows through all living things and is connected directly to the quality of health has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. The Chinese refer to this energy as Chi. The existence of this "life force energy" has been verified by recent scientific experiments, and western medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process.

Reiki supplies more of the life energy that our bodies need to heal themselves by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy, balanced, and natural way. It is a simple yet powerful way to bring physical and emotional balance to a stressful life. Reiki can work on many levels and can be used to help alleviate physical ailments, to relieve stress and anxiety and to bring about deep relaxation and restore a sense of well being.

Reiki is completely safe for all to use. There is no belief system attached to Reiki so people of all faiths can benefit from this unique system. To receive a Reiki treatment you remain fully clothed and are either seated or lie on a couch.
